Electric two-wheeler motor assembly on a production line in India
Bosch is strategically enhancing its presence in India’s burgeoning electric two-wheeler market by focusing on the localization of key components. Manohar Halahali, President of Bosch Two-Wheeler & Powersports, highlighted that this approach, which includes localizing the production of motors, controllers, and various child parts, is crucial for improving cost economics within the country.
This localization strategy is expected to make Bosch’s offerings more competitive in the price-sensitive Indian market, thereby driving growth for its electric two-wheeler component business. By manufacturing these critical parts locally, Bosch aims to reduce lead times, streamline supply chains, and potentially lower the overall cost of electric two-wheelers for consumers.
The move aligns with India’s broader push towards electric mobility and local manufacturing, supported by government initiatives. Bosch’s investment in localizing production demonstrates a commitment to the Indian market and positions the company to capitalize on the rapid expansion of the electric two-wheeler sector.
