Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL) has formally contested findings regarding a batch of its Abhayrab rabies vaccine, asserting that the vials seized by regulatory authorities were not produced at its manufacturing facilities. The company’s intervention follows a regulatory determination that labeled a specific batch as substandard after it failed potency testing.
In a statement addressing the quality control concerns, IIL emphasized that the batch in question had previously undergone and passed assessment by the Central Drugs Laboratory in Kasauli, the apex body for vaccine testing in India. The company conducted a forensic comparison between the seized products and its own internal retention samples, identifying seventeen distinct discrepancies that suggest the seized items are not genuine products of the firm.
