Industrial AI vision system on manufacturing floor guiding robotic arm.
Advantech has unveiled its new ASR-A501 4” SBC and AFE-R761 AI vision control system, designed to power advanced visual AI applications across smart manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, and heavy-duty construction vehicles. These integrated solutions aim to provide efficient edge computing and motion connectivity, crucial for real-time decision-making in industrial environments.
The AFE-R761 system incorporates multiple high-speed GMSL serial interfaces, enabling synchronized multi-camera input and supporting 360° surround-view software image stitching. At its core, the system features an integrated NPU with support for Hailo-8 AI accelerator cards, capable of delivering up to 26 TOPS of acceleration for complex AI tasks such as object detection and processing lightweight quantized LLMs. This computational power is vital for applications requiring rapid analysis of visual data directly at the edge, minimizing latency.
Connectivity options are extensive, including USB 3.0, CAN FD for real-time motion control, and multiple Ethernet ports. The system is pre-loaded with Ubuntu and ROS2 Humble, and its software stack includes an EtherCAT master driver and real-time kernel patches, facilitating sub-millisecond control latency. Designed for demanding industrial settings, the system boasts a wide voltage input range, robust ESD protection, and locking interfaces to ensure reliability in high-vibration environments.
The introduction of these systems by Advantech highlights the growing demand for sophisticated edge AI solutions in industrial sectors, enabling greater automation and intelligence in operational processes.
