QNu Labs secures funding for its quantum cybersecurity RDI project.
Bengaluru-based quantum cybersecurity startup QNu Labs has successfully closed a ₹200 Cr (approximately $21 Mn) Series A1 funding round. The investment was co-led by the state-backed National Quantum Mission and Speciale Invest, with participation from Sony Innovation Fund, Gaja Capital, and Artha Ventures.
This latest capital infusion brings the company’s total funding to ₹375 Cr. The startup intends to deploy these funds to accelerate research and development, enhance its go-to-market strategy, and strengthen its internal operational infrastructure as it transitions from a technology development stage to a commercial proof-of-scale phase.
A significant driver for this funding is the company’s commitment to the government’s Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) project. Having been awarded a ₹150 Cr project, QNu Labs is utilizing this fresh capital to meet the mandatory matching investment requirement. The company has already finalized the term sheet for this initiative.
QNu Labs, founded in 2016 by Sunil Gupta and Srinivasa Rao Aluri, specializes in cybersecurity products designed to mitigate risks posed by quantum computing, including quantum random number generation (QRNG), quantum key distribution (QKD), and post-quantum cryptography (PQC). The firm is currently expanding its portfolio with QShield 2.0, a platform aimed at helping enterprises navigate quantum-safe migration, and is conducting pilots for drone and satellite security solutions tailored for the defense sector.
With a workforce of 180 employees, the company is also pursuing international growth, maintaining a presence in the US and Australia. As quantum technology approaches mainstream adoption—projected by industry experts to occur within the next two to three years—QNu Labs’ focus remains on securing critical data across the banking and healthcare sectors globally.
