Shiprocket's FY26 financial performance review in an e-commerce operations center.
Shiprocket, a prominent player in India’s logistics and e-commerce enablement sector, has made a notable debut on the stock exchanges. The company’s shares opened at ₹131 on the NSE, a 35.1% premium to its issue price of ₹97, and saw similar gains on the BSE. This strong listing performance highlights investor confidence in the company’s growth narrative and the burgeoning Indian logistics market.
While the initial public offering (IPO) saw a successful launch, Shiprocket’s market capitalization now stands above ₹10,000 Cr, shifting the focus from its listing performance to its ability to justify this valuation through sustained revenue growth and margin expansion. The company, which positions itself as an end-to-end, merchant-first, API-led e-commerce enablement platform, operates across core logistics services and an expanding portfolio of emerging businesses, including checkout, payments, and cross-border commerce.
Shiprocket’s core business, comprising domestic shipping and related applications, remains its financial backbone, generating ₹1,485 Cr in revenue in FY26 and achieving an adjusted EBITDA margin of 12.56%. This segment serves over 2.14 Lakh active merchants. However, the company’s emerging business segment, while growing rapidly at 65.2% YoY and accounting for 26.6% of total revenue in FY26, incurred an adjusted EBITDA loss of approximately ₹169 Cr in the same period. This resulted in a consolidated adjusted EBITDA of only about ₹17 Cr on revenues exceeding ₹2,024 Cr in FY26.
The company plans to utilize IPO proceeds to invest in platform growth, particularly in its emerging businesses, and to repay borrowings. Key expansion areas include cross-border commerce (ShiprocketX), cargo and fulfilment (Shiprocket Quick), and checkout services (Fastrr Checkout), aiming to enhance merchant conversion rates and reduce return-to-origin orders. Strategic acquisitions have also bolstered its capabilities in enterprise shipping, warehouse management, cargo shipping, marketing automation, and retail fulfilment.
Shiprocket’s next challenge lies in demonstrating that its diverse business segments can mature and achieve operating leverage, moving towards profitability without compromising the economics of its core, profitable logistics operations. The market is closely watching to see if the company can translate its scale and merchant ecosystem into consistent profitability, a critical factor for sustaining its current market valuation amidst a selective IPO market that prioritizes strong fundamentals and a clear path to profitability.
