Union Minister Piyush Goyal is spearheading a significant 200-member business delegation on a four-day visit to Japan, commencing August 24. The primary objective of this high-level engagement is to explore avenues for bolstering bilateral trade and investment between India and Japan.
This visit gains particular importance in light of Japan’s ambitious investment target of 10 trillion yen (approximately Rs 60,000 crore) in India over the next decade, a goal set by Japan last year. The delegation’s itinerary includes visits to Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka.
The diverse business delegation comprises representatives from key sectors crucial to economic growth, including manufacturing, semiconductors, clean energy, steel, automotive, financial services, healthcare, and the burgeoning start-up ecosystem. This broad representation underscores the wide-ranging scope of potential collaborations.
In Tokyo, Minister Goyal is scheduled to engage in a series of high-level meetings with the leadership of major Japanese conglomerates and industrial houses, many of whom have been long-standing partners in India’s development journey. A key event will be a round-table discussion with Keidanren, the Japan Business Federation, which represents over 1,500 leading Japanese companies, providing a platform for direct dialogue on enhancing economic ties.
