Chinese technology and manufacturing firms are playing a significant role in modernizing Cambodia’s industrial sector. An international industrial exhibition in Phnom Penh showcased advanced automation and industrial machinery from over 200 exhibitors, with a strong presence from Chinese enterprises.
The event, co-organized by Yorkers Trade & Marketing Service Co. and Cambodia’s Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, aims to foster bilateral industrial ties and expand commercial partnerships. Minister Hem Vanndy emphasized the importance for Cambodian enterprises to adopt modern technologies like AI, robotics, and smart manufacturing to boost productivity, reduce operational costs, and enhance export quality.
Cambodia currently has 3,357 operational factories, employing over 1.35 million workers, with total factory investment reaching approximately $28 billion, a 29% increase from 2025. Experts highlight that integrating Chinese technology will help Cambodia address economic challenges by improving output, reducing waste, and developing workforce skills.
