Andhra Pradesh has experienced a remarkable six-fold increase in foreign direct investment (FDI), attracting USD 608.59 million in the fiscal year 2025-26. This significant surge, up from USD 92.13 million in FY 2023-24, underscores a robust turnaround in the state’s investment climate, largely attributed to the policies of the current Telugu Desam Party-led government.
The growth in FDI is a direct result of enhanced ease of doing business, expedited approval processes, and improved infrastructure within the state. Key sectors have seen substantial capital inflows, with metallurgical industries leading the charge, increasing from USD 0.10 million to USD 262.56 million. Industrial machinery also experienced a significant boost, attracting USD 183.10 million after previously seeing no investment. The food processing sector also demonstrated strong growth, drawing USD 112.59 million compared to USD 3.65 million in the earlier fiscal year.
Investments also flowed into other sectors including cement, gypsum products, services, automobiles, chemicals, electrical equipment, and electronics. This positive trend is further supported by national initiatives such as the Production Linked Incentive schemes and the Semicon India Programme, which aim to bolster manufacturing and technological advancement.
The substantial increase in FDI is anticipated to stimulate job creation and foster economic development across Andhra Pradesh, positioning the state as an attractive destination for global investors in the competitive emerging markets landscape.
