AIESL, a prominent state-owned Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) provider, is strategically expanding its capabilities at its Nagpur facility. The company aims to significantly increase its international business by enhancing its servicing capacity and seeking crucial regulatory approvals.
A key objective for AIESL is to obtain EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) approval for Airbus base maintenance. This certification would unlock opportunities to service a wider range of international aircraft operators, positioning the Nagpur MRO as a significant hub for European aviation standards.
The facility recently demonstrated its enhanced capabilities by successfully reviving a six-year grounded Air India Boeing 777. This achievement underscores AIESL’s technical expertise and its capacity to undertake complex restoration projects.
Further diversifying its service offerings, AIESL is actively exploring passenger-to-freighter (P2F) conversion projects for Boeing 777 aircraft at the Nagpur site. This initiative aligns with the growing global demand for cargo aircraft and represents a strategic move to capture a new market segment.
The expansion and pursuit of advanced certifications signal AIESL’s ambition to become a leading MRO provider in the region, capable of competing on a global scale and attracting significant international airline contracts.
