Founders Angelo and Claudia Zimmerman at their Fairfield warehouse.
Angelo and Claudia Zimmerman, founders of everneat, are revolutionizing home cleaning with their plant-powered products. Angelo’s personal experience with respiratory issues, triggered by harsh cleaning chemicals, prompted him to question the safety of conventional cleaners. This led him and Claudia, an architectural designer, to develop a line of effective and safe cleaning solutions.
In 2015, they launched an eco-friendly cleaning service in New York City, where they recognized the limitations of existing eco-friendly products. This inspired them to create their own formulations, emphasizing enzymes and probiotics instead of harsh chemicals. Everneat’s probiotic-based cleaners introduce beneficial bacteria that break down grease, grime, and odor-causing microbes for up to a week, promoting a healthier home microbiome. This approach contrasts with traditional disinfectants that temporarily sterilize surfaces. The concept is being explored in European hospitals for its effectiveness and safety.
After moving to Fairfield County, the Zimmermans found that the community’s focus on health and family aligned with their mission. Everneat’s philosophy highlights the importance of the home environment in overall wellness. Their product line is streamlined, featuring an oven scrub, multisurface cleaner, dish and hand soaps, laundry detergent, stain remover, and a room and linen spray. The brand promotes sustainability through refillable bottles and aluminum refill containers.
Everneat’s growth has been organic, boosted by an Epicurious article featuring their oven scrub, which led to over 2,600 five-star reviews on Etsy. The brand is available online, on Amazon, and through their Fairfield warehouse, aiming to help people feel better in their homes by removing unnecessary toxic chemicals.
