An executive points to a diagram explaining corporate structure, refuting Chinese ties.
TP-Link India has refuted claims of being a Chinese entity amid India’s ban on Chinese-made CCTV cameras. CEO Sanjay Sehgal told The Economic Times that TP-Link India is part of TP-Link Systems, a US-based entity, and not affiliated with China’s TP-Link Technologies.
According to Sehgal, a Singapore-based holding company owns a 99.9% stake in TP-Link India. This clarification comes as India scrutinizes companies with Chinese links, particularly in sensitive sectors like surveillance.
The Indian government’s move to ban Chinese CCTV cameras is driven by concerns over data security and potential surveillance risks. This has led to increased scrutiny of companies operating in India that have ties to Chinese entities.
TP-Link, a major player in the networking and surveillance equipment market, is seeking to reassure Indian authorities and customers that its Indian operations are independent of its Chinese counterpart. The company’s clarification highlights the increasing pressure on businesses to demonstrate clear separation from Chinese entities in the face of geopolitical tensions and data security concerns.
