Kolkata, India – Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has launched a significant initiative aimed at fostering entrepreneurship among its MBA students. Under the new policy, students opting to dedicate a year to developing their startups will retain their eligibility for campus placements in the subsequent year.
This move by IIM-Calcutta signals a growing trend among premier business schools to support and encourage entrepreneurial aspirations within their student body, acknowledging the increasing importance of startup culture in the economic landscape. By providing a safety net of placement opportunities, the institute seeks to de-risk the entrepreneurial journey for its students.
The announcement coincided with the inauguration of the 63rd MBA batch at IIM-Calcutta, comprising 480 students. The institute also highlighted continued support from the Adani Group, which has pledged ongoing scholarship assistance and provided bicycles to enhance campus mobility.
The Adani Group’s commitment underscores the collaborative relationship between industry and academia in nurturing future business leaders and innovators. This initiative from IIM-Calcutta is expected to encourage more students to explore startup opportunities, potentially leading to the creation of new ventures and contributing to India’s startup ecosystem.
