Adani Energy Solutions (AESL) is poised to acquire IntelliSmart Infrastructure for ₹3,050 crore, a move that will significantly expand its footprint in India’s rapidly growing smart metering sector. This acquisition positions AESL as the country’s largest smart metering platform, aiming to manage over 47 million meters.
The deal aligns with India’s broader national objective to transition from conventional electricity meters to smart meters. The government’s ambitious plan targets the replacement of 250 million traditional meters, a strategic initiative designed to modernize the power distribution network, improve efficiency, and curtail energy losses across the country.
IntelliSmart, a key player in the smart metering space, will bring its established infrastructure and operational expertise to the Adani group. This acquisition is expected to accelerate the deployment of smart metering solutions, contributing to the digitalization of the power sector and enabling better grid management and consumer engagement.
The transaction underscores the increasing investment interest in India’s energy infrastructure and technology sectors, driven by government policy and the demand for a more robust and efficient power ecosystem. For Adani Energy Solutions, this acquisition represents a strategic consolidation of its market leadership and a significant step towards achieving its growth objectives in the smart energy domain.
