Minister Vaishnaw observes robotic laser welding on a B-28 high-speed rail coach at BEML's Aditya plant.
Bengaluru, India – Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the state-of-the-art ‘Aditya’ complex at Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) in Bengaluru today, signaling a significant advancement in India’s ambition for indigenous high-speed rail technology. The new facility is poised to play a crucial role in the development and manufacturing of the nation’s own bullet trains.
The ‘Aditya’ complex is equipped with advanced, high-precision machinery, including robotic laser welding systems, designed to support the complex manufacturing processes required for high-speed rail. This infrastructure is critical for the B-28 bullet train, an ‘Atmanirbhar’ (self-reliant) version being jointly designed by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) and BEML.
“The bullet train’s Atmanirbhar version B-28 is being designed jointly by ICF and BEML. Manufacturing will take place at BEML’s specially designed facility, Aditya Plant, equipped with advanced, high-precision machines, including robotic laser welding systems,” stated Minister Vaishnaw during the inauguration. This development underscores the government’s commitment to fostering domestic manufacturing capabilities within the strategic railway sector.
The establishment of the Aditya Plant at BEML represents a strategic move to consolidate manufacturing expertise and enhance India’s capacity to produce sophisticated rail components and rolling stock. This initiative is expected to reduce reliance on foreign technology and suppliers, bolstering the ‘Make in India’ campaign and positioning the country as a potential player in the global high-speed rail market.
