An aerospace engineer discusses components in a manufacturing plant.
Hemant Bhave, an entrepreneur from Nagpur, is set to establish an aircraft component manufacturing plant in the Mihan Special Economic Zone (SEZ), two decades after his land was acquired by the Maharashtra government for the same project. Bhave’s company, Bhagyashree Home Appliances, will acquire 2.5 acres to supply components to Dassault Reliance Aviation Limited (DRAL) and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL).
Twenty-five years ago, Bhave’s engineering unit was displaced due to land acquisition, for which he received inadequate compensation. Now, as a project-affected person (PAP), Bhave’s company will manufacture aircraft components for DRAL and TASL. DRAL produces the Falcon business jet and spares for Rafale fighter jets, while TASL supplies to major aviation companies like Boeing and Airbus.
Bhagyashree Home Appliances also serves as a vendor for Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), providing sheet metal parts for Su-30 fighter jets, and contributed key spares to ISRO for the Chandrayaan mission. The company diversified into metal-related engineering after Bhave’s son, Prasad, an aerospace engineer, joined the business in 2012.
The decision to relocate to Mihan-SEZ was strategic, driven by the presence of major clients within the zone. Bhagyashree Home Appliances also supplies components for the indigenous Kaveri engines used in Tejas aircraft for Godrej Aviation.
