Costco is expanding its offerings to include fertility care, providing members with discounted treatments through new healthcare partnerships. The membership-only retailer is teaming up with telehealth provider Sesame and fertility clinic IVI RMA North America to offer a range of services, including in vitro fertilization (IVF), egg freezing, and intrauterine insemination (IUI).
The initiative aims to reduce the financial barriers to fertility treatment, with savings of up to 80% on medications like Follistim, which can cost around $2,000 per cartridge. This move could save patients thousands of dollars per cycle.
Richard Stephens, Senior Vice President of Pharmacy at Costco, stated that the partnership with Sesame and IVI RMA reflects a commitment to providing transparent and affordable solutions. The program combines Sesame’s telehealth access for treatment planning, IVI RMA North America’s specialized clinics for medical procedures, and Costco’s pharmacy for medication fulfillment.
Through Sesame, patients can undergo evaluations and diagnostic workups to create personalized treatment plans. For procedures like IVF or IUI, patients are connected to IVI RMA clinics, where Costco members receive negotiated discounts. The IVI RMA network also offers preimplantation genetic testing of embryos (PGT-A), single embryo transfers, fertility preservation, and specialized fertility care for LGBTQ+ patients.
This program is available nationwide to Costco members and can be accessed online, marking a significant step in making fertility treatment more accessible to a broader audience.
