Fuel attendant dispensing E20 fuel into a car at a modern fuel station in India
The Indian government has clarified that it is not pressuring automobile manufacturers to conceal any facts regarding the widespread adoption of E20 fuel. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas issued a statement emphasizing that India’s listed automobile companies operate with legal and regulatory obligations towards their customers.
According to the oil ministry’s statement on Thursday, these independent companies are aware that concealing vehicle defects, particularly in relation to the E20 fuel blend, would expose them to substantial risks. These risks include potential warranty claims, product liability lawsuits, regulatory actions, and severe damage to their brand reputation.
The statement serves to assure stakeholders and the public that transparency is expected from auto manufacturers as the country moves towards E20 fuel, which consists of 20% ethanol blended with gasoline.
