New Delhi, India – The Indian government has refuted claims that it is pressuring automobile manufacturers to conceal information regarding the widespread adoption of E20 fuel. In a statement released on Thursday, the oil ministry clarified that India’s independent, listed automobile companies are bound by legal and regulatory obligations to their customers.
The ministry emphasized that these companies cannot hide vehicle defects without facing significant repercussions. These include potential warranty claims, product liability lawsuits, regulatory actions, and severe damage to their brand reputation. The statement aims to assure stakeholders and the public that transparency is expected from the automotive sector as it navigates the transition to E20 fuel, a blend of 20% ethanol and 80% gasoline.
