Sun Pharmaceutical Industries has announced an agreement to acquire U.S.-based drugmaker Organon & Co for approximately $11.75 billion in an all-cash transaction. The deal, which includes existing debt, will see Sun Pharma purchase all outstanding Organon shares at a price of $14.00 per share. This strategic move is set to grant Sun Pharma complete ownership of Organon, a company with a significant focus on women’s health, biosimilars, and established medicines.
The acquisition signifies a major expansion for Sun Pharma, potentially enhancing its portfolio and market presence in key therapeutic areas. Organon’s established business and specialized focus are expected to complement Sun Pharma’s existing operations, driving synergies and growth opportunities. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions.
