Residential complex and street life in an Indian city
The value of housing sales in India saw a significant increase of 11% in the first half of 2026, driven by strong performance in markets like Bengaluru. However, the National Capital Region (NCR) experienced a notable drop in sales value during the same period, according to a recent industry report.
Overall, housing sales value in June 2026 also showed a 5% year-on-year rise. While Bengaluru emerged as a leader with robust demand growth, the NCR’s performance lagged, indicating regional disparities in the real estate market’s recovery.
Supply-side metrics reflected a moderation, with a decrease in the value of new launches. Despite this, inventory levels remained stable across the nation. Pune was highlighted as having the leanest inventory position among major cities.
The report suggests that developers should strategically focus on the mid-income housing segment to maintain and potentially enhance sales momentum in the coming periods, capitalizing on sustained demand in key markets while addressing challenges in others.
