Indian pharmaceutical major Zydus Lifesciences has joined forces with Sri Lanka’s Sunshine Healthcare Lanka to establish a new manufacturing facility, marking a significant cross-border investment in the region’s healthcare sector. The joint venture, named Zydus Sunshine Lifesciences, will involve an investment of $20 million.
The new facility will be strategically located in the Horana Export Processing Zone in Sri Lanka. This initiative is aimed at bolstering local pharmaceutical production, thereby reducing the island nation’s dependence on imported medicines and enhancing the accessibility of essential drugs for its population.
