Tehran, Iran – Iran’s chief negotiator in talks with the United States issued a stark warning on Tuesday, stating that the country has “not even started” in its ongoing standoff concerning the Strait of Hormuz. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who also serves as the speaker of Iran’s parliament, conveyed this message via a post on the social media platform X.
Ghalibaf asserted that the actions undertaken by the U.S. and its allies have jeopardized shipping security in the critical waterway. He further indicated that the “malign presence will diminish,” suggesting a potential shift in Iran’s posture regarding international maritime operations in the region.
The statement implies a toughening stance from Iran amidst existing geopolitical tensions, with potential implications for global energy markets and international shipping routes that transit the Strait of Hormuz, a vital chokepoint for global oil trade.
