Raise Financial Services, the parent company of Indian investment tech platform Dhan, is strategically expanding its offerings beyond traditional stock brokerage. The company aims to transition from a transaction layer to a decision layer for retail investors by integrating a comprehensive capital markets stack, including APIs, AI-driven tools, educational content, and algorithmic investing capabilities.
This strategic pivot follows a significant $120 million Series B funding round late last year, which valued Dhan at $1.2 billion and propelled it into the unicorn club. The infusion of capital has enabled Dhan to broaden its scope, evidenced by its recent acquisition of the algorithmic trading platform Stratzy. This acquisition enhances Dhan’s product suite and positions it to cater to the increasing demand for data-driven and experimental investment approaches among Indian retail investors.
Dhan’s evolution includes the launch of DhanHQ, an API-first trading platform designed for serious traders, and Upsurge, a learning platform for trading and investing. Further enhancements include Fuzz Ai, an AI-powered financial research assistant, and Artham, an in-house small language model for interpreting market signals. The recent acquisition of Stratzy adds over 100 algorithmic strategies across various asset classes, complementing Dhan’s existing offerings from DIY trading to systematic investing.
The company’s financial performance shows robust growth, with revenue from operations rising 136% year-over-year to ₹877 crore in FY25, and profit increasing 159% year-over-year to ₹408 crore. While these figures are lower than competitors like Groww and Zerodha, the upward trend indicates the scaling of Dhan’s core brokerage business, providing a financial foundation for its ambitious expansion plans.
Raise is also reportedly in talks to acquire wealth tech startup Infinyte Club, which would further expand its services into advisory and portfolio management. This multi-pronged strategy aims to create a tightly integrated ecosystem covering the entire investor lifecycle, from discovery and education to execution and automation. The key challenge ahead for Dhan will be to seamlessly integrate these diverse offerings into a cohesive and trustworthy user experience, turning its expanded stack into a competitive strength rather than a source of complexity.
