India’s peak power demand reached an all-time high of 252.07 GW on Friday, according to reports. The surge in demand coincides with an intensifying heat wave affecting much of the country.
The increased demand is attributed to the greater use of cooling appliances, such as air conditioners and coolers, as residents seek relief from the high temperatures.
Experts are forecasting that power demand may continue to rise as heatwave conditions are expected to persist throughout the weekend and extend into May and June.
