Walmart has issued a recall for approximately 50,000 adjustable dumbbells following multiple reports of injuries. The recall, announced by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), involves FitRx SmartBell Quick-Select 5-52.5 lb. Adjustable Dumbbells manufactured by Tzumi Electronics.
The CPSC stated that the weight plates on the dumbbells can detach during use, posing a significant “impact hazard.” The agency has received over 115 reports of plates coming loose, resulting in at least six reported injuries, including broken toes, bruises, contusions, and lacerations.
The recalled dumbbells are model 8361 with serial numbers ranging from KK23288361 through KK23388361 and KK207608361 through KK21347836. These dumbbells are black with red accents and adjust from 5 to 52.5 pounds in increments of 2.5 or 5 pounds. They were sold at Walmart stores and online from January through November 2024 for about $100.
Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the recalled dumbbells and contact Tzumi Electronics for a free replacement. Customers are advised to mark the dumbbell tray with the word “Recalled” and register at myfitrx.com/recall-52-lbs/.
