Officials from Haryana power companies discuss rule relaxation with regulators.
Haryana’s power distribution companies have approached the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) seeking a relaxation in existing rules regarding the recovery of fuel surcharge. The companies are proposing to defer the monthly fuel surcharge recovery, instead aiming to recover the amount in subsequent financial years.
This request is motivated by the need to balance the financial health of the utility companies with the interests of consumers. Deferring the surcharge could alleviate immediate financial pressure on consumers, while the companies would aim to recover the costs later.
The Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission is currently reviewing the proposal. Before making a final decision, the Commission is seeking feedback from the public to ensure a balanced approach that considers all stakeholders.
