Airtel leads mobile subscriber growth in India's dynamic telecom market.
Bharti Airtel emerged as the leader in wireless mobile subscriber additions in February 2026, according to recent data. While Airtel gained ground, Reliance Jio continues to hold the largest share of the wireless subscriber base, supported by its high active user rate.
Vodafone Idea experienced minimal growth during the same period, while BSNL continued to see a decline in its subscriber base. Overall, India’s total wireless subscriber base expanded, driven primarily by growth in urban areas. This indicates ongoing demand for mobile connectivity in metropolitan regions.
In addition to the growth in wireless subscriptions, broadband subscriptions also saw an increase, with fixed wireless access demonstrating particularly strong growth. This suggests a growing preference for wireless broadband solutions among consumers.
These trends reflect the evolving dynamics of India’s telecom market, where competition remains intense and operators are focused on expanding their subscriber base and enhancing service offerings to cater to the increasing demand for mobile and broadband connectivity.
