Indian officials inspect seized LPG cylinders in a warehouse.
The Indian government has seized 500 illegally stored LPG cylinders as part of intensified measures to ensure energy security amid escalating tensions in West Asia. The move comes as authorities address concerns over potential fuel supply disruptions and domestic shortages.
The crackdown includes increased raids to combat black-marketing of LPG cylinders, with over 2,950 raids conducted recently. The government is also expanding PNG (Piped Natural Gas) connections to reduce reliance on cylinders. Efforts are underway to increase the supply of smaller cylinders to meet consumer demand.
Domestic fuel prices are being closely managed to mitigate the impact of international volatility on consumers. The government is also facilitating the repatriation of Indian seafarers and ensuring safe travel for Indian nationals in the West Asia region.
These measures reflect India’s proactive approach to securing its energy supply chains and protecting its citizens amid geopolitical uncertainty.
