Delhi is set to ban the registration of new petrol two-wheelers from April 2028, marking a significant shift towards electric mobility in the capital. According to the new policy, electric models will be mandatory for all new two-wheeler registrations starting in FY29.
The transition extends to three-wheelers as well, with a complete shift to electric-only vehicles targeted from January 2027. Furthermore, school buses and commercial fleets will face phased electrification targets as part of the city’s broader strategy to promote clean transportation.
These measures are designed to significantly boost the adoption of electric vehicles and reduce air pollution levels in Delhi, aligning with the city’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
