Bridging India's digital divide with 5G affordability.
India is prioritizing handset affordability to bridge the digital divide, according to Jyotiraditya Scindia. Addressing the challenges of digital inclusion, Scindia highlighted the importance of affordable handsets, noting that it remains a primary obstacle globally. India is actively addressing this through schemes like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI).
India has rapidly built the world’s second-largest 5G network. The nation’s 5G subscriber base is projected to reach one billion by 2031, signaling substantial growth in digital infrastructure and adoption.
In addition to 5G, India is focusing on 6G development, with aims to contribute significantly to patent development. This move underscores India’s ambition to be a leader in future telecommunications technologies.
