Financial services firms BNP Paribas and Societe Generale, along with hedge fund Millennium Management, have sold shares in omnichannel eyewear giant Lenskart for a combined ₹2,670.2 crore through multiple block deals. This significant divestment comes as Lenskart, alongside Groww, was recently added to the MSCI global standard index.
According to data from the National Stock Exchange (NSE), BNP Paribas Financial Markets offloaded 1.3 crore Lenskart shares at ₹662.22 each, realizing ₹855 crore. Societe Generale sold 1.4 crore shares at ₹661.5 per share, generating ₹930.8 crore. Millennium Management, through its affiliate Integrated Core Strategies (Asia) Pte Ltd, also sold approximately 1.4 crore shares at ₹661.15 each, amounting to ₹893.3 crore.
Asset management firm BlackRock was a major buyer, acquiring 2.83 crore shares at ₹662.63 per share for ₹1,876.3 crore, and an additional 3.1 lakh shares for ₹20.3 crore. Notably, both BNP Paribas and Societe Generale also purchased shares, investing ₹98.6 lakh and ₹2 crore, respectively.
This share sale follows a pattern of substantial divestments from Lenskart investors. Last week, Alpha Wave Ventures sold shares worth ₹1,856.8 crore. In August, SoftBank offloaded Lenskart stake valued at ₹2,887.9 crore. Previous exits include Temasek in July, selling shares for ₹1,934 crore, and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) in June, which sold shares for ₹1,960 crore.
The increased selling activity appears to be driven by investors seeking to capitalize on Lenskart’s stock performance. The company’s shares have seen a 26.5% increase in the past three months and a 46.9% rise year-to-date. This growth is supported by positive analyst outlooks, with brokerages like Jefferies and Macquarie raising their target prices following Lenskart’s strong Q1 FY27 results. The company reported a consolidated net profit surge of 273% to ₹228.4 crore in Q1 FY27, with operating revenue increasing by 43% year-on-year to ₹2,714.2 crore.
Lenskart’s shares closed Monday’s trading session up 4.15% at ₹662.55 on the BSE.
