PNB union members protest mass officer transfers in front of a bank branch.
The All India Punjab National Bank Officers’ Association has formally objected to Punjab National Bank’s (PNB) decision to execute large-scale transfers of Scale IV officers and above. In a letter addressed to the bank’s managing director, the union requested an immediate review of the policy, citing potential disruptions to the bank’s operations and overall performance.
The union argues that these mass transfers, involving a significant number of experienced officers, could negatively impact the efficiency and stability of the country’s second-largest public sector lender. The association raised concerns about the timing and scale of the transfers, suggesting they could undermine PNB’s strategic objectives.
PNB has yet to officially respond to the union’s concerns. The situation is unfolding as the bank navigates a complex economic environment, with stakeholders closely monitoring how PNB addresses these internal challenges while maintaining its market position.
