Construction of a new road over bridge at Kandla Port, with a train on adjacent tracks.
The Indian government has approved a ₹132.51 crore (approximately $15.9 million) road over bridge project at the Deendayal Port Authority in Kandla, according to a recent announcement. The initiative aims to alleviate congestion and improve cargo evacuation efficiency at one of India’s major ports.
Western Railway will execute the project, which is designed to remove bottlenecks and enhance logistics operations. The road over bridge is expected to support the Sagarmala Programme and PM Gati Shakti, national initiatives focused on port-led development and infrastructure connectivity.
The project is intended to accelerate trade and support economic growth in the region by improving transportation infrastructure and reducing delays in cargo movement. The Deendayal Port in Kandla is a critical hub for trade, handling a significant volume of cargo annually.
