India's NHAI exceeds road construction targets, boosting infrastructure.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has surpassed its road construction target for the fiscal year 2025-26, constructing 5,313 km of roads. This achievement underscores the government’s commitment to infrastructure development and economic growth.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, NHAI’s capital expenditure for the year reached Rs 2,44,362 crore, exceeding the budgetary support of Rs 2,38,384 crore by 2.5%. The additional Rs 5,978 crore was funded through NHAI’s internal resources, demonstrating the organization’s financial strength and efficient resource management.
This performance indicates a robust push towards infrastructure enhancement, which is critical for facilitating trade, improving connectivity, and driving economic activity across the country. The increased capital expenditure reflects the government’s focus on bolstering the infrastructure sector, attracting private investment, and creating employment opportunities.
The successful completion of road construction targets and the efficient utilization of funds highlight NHAI’s role as a key player in India’s infrastructure development landscape. This development is likely to further enhance investor confidence in India’s infrastructure projects and attract additional investment in the sector.
