Green hydrogen facility at a refinery under a dramatic sky.
NeuEN Green Energy, a joint venture, has secured a deal to supply 10,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) of green hydrogen to Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in Assam, India. This initiative supports NRL’s carbon emission reduction goals and aligns with India’s broader energy transition and net-zero ambitions.
Under the agreement, NeuEN will establish a new green hydrogen production facility at the refinery. Commercial operations are scheduled to commence in 2028. The project underscores the increasing focus on green hydrogen as a key component in decarbonizing industrial processes.
The deal highlights the growing investment in green energy projects within India, driven by both government policies and corporate sustainability initiatives. NRL’s commitment to sourcing green hydrogen reflects a strategic move towards reducing its carbon footprint and adopting cleaner energy sources. This development could catalyze further investments in similar green hydrogen production facilities across the country, contributing to India’s ambitious climate goals.
