Chinese machinery giant LiuGong has commenced construction on a new green and smart industrial park in West Java, Indonesia, marking a significant expansion of its Asia-Pacific operations. The facility, which broke ground on July 22, 2026, is poised to bolster West Java’s manufacturing capabilities and is slated to become Indonesia’s first electric heavy equipment manufacturing plant.
The project underscores LiuGong’s strategic globalization efforts, initiated in 2002, and its commitment to the Indonesian market. Chairman Zheng Jin emphasized the company’s focus on sustainable industrial development and green transformation within the region.
The industrial park, envisioned as a comprehensive platform for manufacturing, research and development, talent cultivation, and industrial collaboration, will feature an Indonesia Product Application R&D Center. LiuGong is also partnering with Universitas Gadjah Mada to enhance local talent development and facilitate technology transfer.
Vice Chairman Luo Guobing detailed the park’s integrated approach, aiming to foster innovation and collaboration. The facility is expected to be operational in the first half of 2027, positioning Indonesia as a key production hub for LiuGong in the Asia-Pacific market.
The initiative is set to significantly boost the local manufacturing sector, with Indonesian Governor Dedi Mulyadi expressing government support for the project.
