Chinese machinery manufacturer LiuGong has commenced construction on a new green and smart industrial park in West Java, Indonesia. This significant development, which broke ground on July 22, 2026, is poised to bolster Indonesia’s manufacturing capabilities and establish LiuGong’s strategic production base for the broader Asia-Pacific region.
The industrial park will integrate advanced manufacturing processes with dedicated research and development (R&D) facilities, alongside a strong emphasis on talent cultivation. A key component of this initiative is a partnership with Universitas Gadjah Mada, aimed at facilitating technology transfer and nurturing local expertise. This collaboration underscores LiuGong’s commitment to deepening its integration within the ASEAN economic landscape and fostering sustainable industrial growth.
Scheduled for operational readiness in the first half of 2027, the facility is set to be Indonesia’s first manufacturing plant for electric heavy equipment. This aligns with global trends towards electrification in the industrial sector and positions LiuGong at the forefront of this transition in the region.
LiuGong’s expansion in Indonesia is part of a larger global strategy. Since 2002, the company has established a significant international footprint, comprising over 40 overseas subsidiaries, more than 20 manufacturing plants, and 17 global R&D bases spanning over 180 countries. The company has actively engaged in local talent development, having trained over 900 Indonesian students since 2023, with a current group of 30 trainees undergoing advanced training at its headquarters in China.
