Steel plant expansion and modernization in Jharkhand, India.
Tata Steel has announced a significant investment plan, allocating ₹10,000 crore towards projects in Jharkhand with a target completion by 2028. This strategic expansion aims to elevate the company’s steelmaking capacity to 40 million tonnes per annum.
A key component of this investment will be the introduction of HIsarna technology, a novel approach to low-carbon iron production. The expansion will also encompass enhancements to the company’s Tinplate Division and its Combi mill operations, further solidifying its market position.
These initiatives are projected to generate approximately 2,000 direct and indirect jobs in the region, underscoring Tata Steel’s commitment to economic development alongside operational growth. The investment signals a continued focus on increasing production efficiency and adopting sustainable manufacturing practices within the Indian steel sector.
