E3 TRION electric scooter on a bustling urban street in an Indian city
Electric mobility startup E3 Electric.Ai has secured ₹100 Cr (approximately $10.4 Mn) in a Series A funding round, comprising a mix of equity and debt. The round was led by BluVenture Holdings, with participation from undisclosed angel investors.
The fresh capital will be utilized to accelerate product development and expand the company’s presence across India. E3 Electric.Ai is preparing for the commercial launch of its first electric scooter, the E3 TRION. The company plans an initial launch in Bengaluru and select southern markets before expanding to other key cities, including Delhi, within the current financial year.
Founded in 2024 by P Sanjeev, former head of TVS Motor’s EV division, E3 Electric.Ai focuses on developing AI-powered electric scooters for families and daily commuters. The scooters integrate AI for enhanced battery safety, predictive maintenance, and range management. A key feature is the AI system’s ability to learn rider behavior to provide personalized range estimates and maintenance alerts. Riders can also perform a quick vehicle health scan, and the system can flag potential issues, connecting users to roadside assistance if needed.
Additionally, the startup is incorporating an SOS feature designed to detect rider falls and automatically notify family members and a helpline. AI is also being employed for smart routing, optimizing trips based on the vehicle’s available range. These features will be accessible through E3’s mobile application, with ten core AI and software features planned for launch.
E3 Electric.Ai operates on an asset-light model, with the majority of the funding allocated towards intellectual property and technology rather than manufacturing infrastructure. The company aims to compete in India’s mass-market electric scooter segment against established players like Ola Electric, Ather Energy, TVS Motor, and Bajaj Auto. India’s electric two-wheeler market has seen significant growth, with monthly registrations reaching 1.81 Lakh units in June, according to recent data.
This funding round highlights the increasing competition and investment activity within India’s burgeoning EV sector, which is projected to become a $132 Bn opportunity by 2030.
