The semiconductor manufacturing facility located in Jagiroad, Assam, is on track to begin production within the current financial year, according to a recent announcement by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. This development marks a significant step in India’s push to establish a robust domestic semiconductor industry.
Minister Vaishnaw confirmed the timeline following a meeting with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The plant, a venture by Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Pvt Ltd, is expected to significantly contribute to the nation’s chip manufacturing capabilities, with projections of producing millions of chips daily.
