Music executives shaking hands over a deal table with vintage vinyl records.
Seeker Music has acquired the masters and publishing catalog of Nu Shooz, the Portland-formed duo known for their 1986 dance hit “I Can’t Wait.” The acquisition follows Seeker Music’s recent completion of its first Asset Backed Securitization (ABS) transaction, securing $267 million to fuel growth and expand its catalog.
The deal includes Nu Shooz’s entire masters and publishing catalog, featuring their album *Poolside* and the track *Point of No Return*. The acquisition coincides with the 40th anniversary of “I Can’t Wait,” with Seeker Music planning new releases and creative initiatives to mark the occasion. Evan Bogart, CEO of Seeker Music, emphasized the company’s commitment to honoring and extending the legacy of influential global hits.
Valerie Day of Nu Shooz expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, anticipating a revitalization of their music through Seeker Music’s creative vision. This acquisition increases Seeker Music’s portfolio value to $400 million, adding to existing catalogs from artists such as Christopher Cross and Joan Jett. Founded in 2020, Seeker Music is also recognized for its “Samplémoose” program, which reinterprets catalog tracks into new releases.
