The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has announced a project to redevelop over 338 acres of slum areas located in the Thane-Belapur industrial belt. The initiative aims to rehabilitate current slum dwellers while also constructing modern infrastructure in the region.
The redevelopment will be carried out through three distinct packages, each managed by different agencies. This multi-agency approach is designed to ensure efficient execution and tailored solutions for the varied needs of the area.
The MIDC anticipates that this project will significantly improve land use in the Thane-Belapur belt. By replacing existing slums with modern infrastructure, the area is expected to become more attractive to industrial investments. The project is a strategic move to boost economic activity and enhance the overall environment of the region.
