Leadership transition at IndusInd Bank.
IndusInd Bank has appointed Arijit Basu, former Managing Director of State Bank of India (SBI), as its new part-time chairman. The appointment follows shareholder approval and marks a leadership transition for the Mumbai-based private sector bank.
Basu brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously chaired HDB Financial Services. His tenure at SBI also included leadership positions at SBI Life Insurance. He succeeds Sunil Mehta, who will step down from his role as chairman on January 30, after the completion of his term. The bank has expressed gratitude to Mehta for his contributions during his time as chairman.
The change in leadership comes as IndusInd Bank focuses on navigating the evolving financial landscape and executing its growth strategies. Basu’s experience in the financial services sector is expected to provide stability and direction. The appointment signals a strategic move by IndusInd Bank to strengthen its governance structure and leverage Basu’s expertise in the banking sector.
