India's oil imports decline.
India’s crude oil imports experienced a significant drop in early March, primarily due to ongoing disruptions in West Asia, according to a report by Systematix Research. The report highlights the impact of the regional crisis on India’s energy supplies.
“India’s import volume also nosedived to just 1.9mn bbls at week ended 6th Mar vs 25mn bbls per week in Feb’26 and 35mn bbls per week in Mar’26,” the Systematix Research report stated, underscoring the severity of the decline.
The sharp reduction in crude oil imports could potentially affect various sectors in India, impacting energy costs and overall economic activity. Market analysts will be closely watching how India adjusts its energy procurement strategies in response to these disruptions.
