India witnessed a significant surge in electric vehicle adoption in FY26, with retail sales climbing to 24.52 lakh units, representing a 24.6 percent increase, according to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).
The two-wheeler segment emerged as a key driver, accounting for over 14 lakh units sold during the fiscal year. This underscores growing consumer enthusiasm for electric scooters and motorcycles.
Electric passenger vehicles also experienced substantial growth, with sales increasing by an impressive 83.63 percent. This indicates a rising demand for electric cars and other passenger vehicles in the Indian market.
