Residents gather at a government office in Delhi, processing property ownership documents.
The Delhi government has introduced a new policy aimed at simplifying property registration and construction in the city’s unauthorized colonies. This initiative is expected to benefit approximately 5 million residents.
The revised approach, known as ‘as is where is,’ eliminates the need for layout plans for existing buildings in most of these areas. This change streamlines the process for residents seeking to formalize their property ownership.
Under the new policy, the Delhi government will issue ownership deeds to eligible residents. Applications will be accepted online starting from April 24, providing a digital platform for citizens to engage with the new regulations.
This policy shift is anticipated to have a significant impact on the real estate landscape in Delhi, potentially unlocking investment and development opportunities within these previously unauthorized colonies.
