A student scans a QR code on a CBSE exam paper, illustrating confusion over its purpose.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a clarification regarding the QR codes printed on question papers, stating that these codes are strictly for internal use and are not web links. This announcement follows recent incidents where scanning the QR codes led to unrelated search results, causing confusion and concern among students and educators.
According to CBSE, the QR codes serve the purpose of authentication and tracking of the question papers within the board’s internal systems. The board emphasized that the search results arising from scanning these codes are algorithm-driven and not indicative of the codes’ intended function.
In light of the misinformation circulating, CBSE has discouraged the spread of false propaganda related to the QR codes. The board reiterated that the codes are designed to ensure the integrity and security of the examination process, and any unintended search results are coincidental.
This clarification aims to reassure stakeholders about the security measures in place and to prevent further misinterpretation of the QR codes’ purpose on examination materials.
