Medical stores across the country may soon be required to install CCTV cameras to maintain records of all sales. The Drug Consultative Committee (DCC) has agreed to a proposal that would make this step mandatory.
The proposed rule change follows growing concerns regarding unregulated drug sales. Authorities aim to enhance transparency and accountability in the pharmaceutical sector.
In addition to CCTV installation, plans are underway to introduce a mobile application or a central portal to monitor and track drugs that are frequently subject to misuse. This measure is intended to curb the inappropriate distribution and consumption of specific medications.
