Digitalizing girder approvals for India's infrastructure.
India’s Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has launched the Portal for Rail-Road Inspection & Stages Management – Steel Girders (PRISM-SG) to streamline the approval and inspection processes for steel girders used in Road Over Bridges (ROBs). The initiative is designed to enhance coordination between ministries and improve project efficiency.
The PRISM-SG portal digitizes key processes, including the Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), Welding Procedure Specification Sheet (WPSS), and fabrication stage inspection of steel girders. According to the ministry, the portal is expected to reduce the approval and inspection timeline from approximately 12 months to three-to-four months.
By digitizing these processes, the ministry aims to improve transparency and accountability in infrastructure projects. The portal facilitates better coordination and oversight, ensuring timely completion of critical road infrastructure.
