Inside a modern stainless steel melt shop in Indonesia.
Jindal Stainless has commissioned a 1.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) stainless steel melt shop in Indonesia, marking a significant expansion of its production capabilities. The new facility increases the company’s total annual melting capacity to 4.2 MTPA, reinforcing its position in the global stainless steel market.
This expansion is part of a larger Rs 5,700 crore (approximately $685 million USD) investment plan aimed at achieving a sales volume of 3.5 MTPA by fiscal year 2029. The company’s strategic move emphasizes raw material security and an integrated growth approach, positioning the Indonesian facility as a key component in its long-term strategy.
The commissioning of the melt shop underscores Jindal Stainless’ commitment to expanding its global footprint and catering to growing demand for stainless steel products. By establishing a stronger presence in Indonesia, the company aims to enhance its supply chain resilience and better serve customers in the Southeast Asian market.
The investment reflects a broader trend of capacity expansion in the stainless steel industry, driven by increasing demand from sectors such as construction, automotive, and consumer goods. Jindal Stainless’ strategic focus on raw material security aligns with industry-wide efforts to mitigate supply chain risks and ensure stable production amidst global economic uncertainties.
